3D Printing Filament
The engineer's guide to FDM filament
Nine production polymers, three brands we run on our own printers, and the use-case logic that picks between them. Compare the trade-offs, then shop the spools — calibrated profiles included.

Nine polymers, ranked by what they do
Specs tell you the numbers; this tells you the job. Each material below earns its place by the problem it solves — not by where it sits on a datasheet.

Match by job
Tell us the part — we'll name the polymer
Start from the operating condition, not the material. These are the defaults our engineering team reaches for before a part ever hits the print farm.
Outdoor / UV exposure
UV-stable and weather-resistant — holds colour and strength outdoors where ABS yellows and PLA fails.
Food-contact surfaces
Available in food-contact grades, moisture-resistant, and easy to wipe down between handling.
High-temperature parts
PC holds form to 110 °C and ABS to 98 °C — both stay rigid where PLA softens near 52 °C.
Flexible seals / dampers
A 95A elastomer at 580% elongation — gaskets, grips, and bushings that bend without cracking.
Structural / load-bearing
PC carries the highest tensile load at 70 MPa; glass-fibre ABS adds stiffness for parts that must stay flat.
Electronics enclosures
UL94 V-0 rated — self-extinguishing, for electrical housings and enclosures.
Prototyping / visual models
PLA prints fast with low warp for fit checks; step up to PETG when the prototype has to actually work.
